Our desire is for the next Senior Pastor to have a long and fruitful ministry here, so we recognize the importance of compatibility of belief, practice, spiritual gifts and personality with what is already here. We believe that our God will both put you in the place He wants you to minister, and that He will bring the right man for the ministry here.
Our prayer is for God to grant us a godly man who will develop a shepherd’s heart for the congregation of this church and for reaching our community for Jesus Christ. We are asking the Lord to bless us with a man who will lead in harmony with our church leaders in fulfilling our mission statement, Glorifying God by Making Disciples of Jesus Christ, while developing vision and practical ways of carrying that out in fulfilling our four purpose statements: *Communicate New Life in Christ through Evangelism. *Cultivate New Life in Christ through Edification. *Care for New Life in Christ through Fellowship. *Celebrate New Life in Christ through Worship.

The specific steps will vary depending on the situation of the applicant, but in general they will be as follows.
1) Review of Application & Resume
2) Request and then review of additional documentation including Testimony of Salvation,
3) Personal Doctrinal Statement, Philosophy of Ministry
4) Review of preaching / teaching ministry abilities. Watch / listen to examples of preaching / teaching and evaluate
5) Contact references
6) Review of current ministry. This may include a visit of current ministry by members of the search committee
7) No obligation visit by candidate (& wife if married) to GBC to personally meet our church & congregation, see our ministries and community.
8)Visit to GBC to candidate.
The GBC Elders will evaluate at after each step of the process. No candidate will proceed if the Elders are not agreed to do so.
If the Lord so blesses, we desire for the new pastor to have an overlap of six months with the current pastor who will complete his 35th year in April 2026. We want the next pastor to have every opportunity to have a long ministry here, so we want to make the transition as beneficial as possible to the new pastor. The first two months will be dedicated for the new pastor to get to know the congregation and community. The current pastor will continue his regular responsibilities. The next two months will be assuming more responsibilities from the current pastor. In the last two months the current pastor will take a different title / position and serve as an Associate to the new pastor. This period will include making any changes the new pastor identifies before the current pastor moves away.
