A Character Sketch of Noah

Due to a major snow storm, our worship service was moved to Saturday night before the storm. I decided to postpone my sermon on the Characteristics of the Millennium in the Revelation series until we have a regular, Sunday worship service. I preached instead on the Character of Noah.

Noah is one of three men specifically noted for their righteousness in Ezekiel 14:13. He is notable among these three in having to stand alone in his righteousness in a world noted for its corruption, violence and evil, (Gen. 6:5,8-9, 12). God’s grace extended to him and his family in providing a warning and a plan for preserving life on the earth. Noah is an example of walking with God in righteousness even when you have to do it alone, and of trusting God to enable him to fulfill what God asked him to do though it gave every appearance of being humanly impossible. It is an example every Christian needs to follow no matter what pressure you encounter from others to compromise and sin, and regardless of the seeming impossibility of what God wants you to do. What God calls you to do, He always enables you to do.
