Diane was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) on 1/10/2023. SPS is a catastrophic, degenerative neurological disorder characterized by progressive muscle stiffness (rigidity) and repeated episodes of painful muscle spasms. It is eventually fatal due to thoracic muscle contractions that cause suffocation. The severity and progression of SPS varies.
